Have all your gas appliances serviced and safety checked annually. If you rent your house it is a legal requirement for your Landlord to provide a copy of the current Gas Safety Record.

Check all gas appliances for warning signs they are not working properly. All flames should burn crisp blue not yellow lazy, check for black marks or stains on or around the appliances and too much condensation in the room is also an indicator.

Fit an audible carbon monoxide alarm and know all SIX signs of carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning :

Headaches, dizziness, breathlessness, nausea, collapse and loss of consciousness. Unsafe gas appliances can put you at risk of CO poisoning, gas leaks, fires and explosions.
